Harlem Renaissance Book Club: Banjo

Dive into iconic texts featured in our new show Silhouettes: Image and Word in the Harlem Renaissance through a three-part, exhibition-inspired book club. Hosted at The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum and facilitated by FIU English professor Shawn Christian, our second meeting focuses on Claude McKay's Banjo, a unique novel that addresses the Black experience in the early 20th century. This program series, providing an opportunity to discover and discuss influential writing from the Harlem Renaissance, also delves into Alain Locke's The New Negro: An Interpretation (January) and Zora Neale Hurston's Mules and Men (May).

Co-sponsored by FIU's College of Arts, Sciences & Education (CASE), Department of English, and African & African Diaspora Studies Program (AADS).
